Apostasys Gambit

Post by Whisper on 2012-03-08, 04:08

Greetings,

As some of you are already aware I am planning to start up my old Dark Heresy game on Fridays from 5pm until 9pm. We will hopefully be starting where we left off last time, if everyone is able to bring along their old character sheets. If not we will be starting a new campaign from square one, though people can choose to stick with their old characters rolled base statistics if they so choose.

The first session of the game will include a refresher of the facts that people have forgotten so far, I will fill in the gaps where I think necessary if you provide me with what you know so far.

Also if any new players are interested in joining/old players have lost their characters, there will be character gen for part of the session. I will need to read through people's character sheets to know what level to gear the encounters to. Twisted Evil

A few reminders and warnings for players.

1. You will end up burning fate if you are not careful.
2. The encounters will be terrifyingly hard/weird.
3. The rewards will make up for your efforts.

Comments and criticism are of course welcome, though I 'may' ignore both. pirat

Regards,

Peter.

Greetings,

So to summarise.

1. You landed on Sepheris Secudus to find the entire Imperial Guard detachment enslaved to a Daemon, who at that moment had decided to take the form of the Commissar.
2. After engaging the Commissar in combat he disappeared.
3. You gathered what resources you could find and headed into the tunnels to find said daemon.
4. After Approx. 2 hours 20 minutes of wandering and climbing etc. you eventually found the entrance into the 'shatters' which is apparently where the daemon has chosen to dwell.

A couple of notes...

You may end up having to re-roll a character if you Burn Fate during the daemon encounter.
You may end up having to re-roll a character if you Burn Fate once you leave the mines.
You may end up having to re-roll a character if you pick up a mutation... Twisted Evil

And yes things are about to get horrible.

Regards,

Peter.

P.S. Your torches are beginning to go out...

Greetings,

Any Fate spent during the mission so far will be spent for the remainder of the mission. Essentially those of you that re-rolled during the first session and used your Fate points will only be able to burn next session, which you might have to.

Mutations 'might' take place next week. All will be revealed.

Regards,

Peter.

Greetings,

So you have cleared the mines of the taint by destroying the warp rift. With a little assistance from outside forces, next week you will be heading somewhere equally fun filled for more deathly incidents.

If you have any thoughts about your acquisitions and don't mind other people seeing them feel free to post them here and I will see if they are available.

Unfortunately you have lost your psyker(s) so the group is hindered in that respect. I heard mention that someone was considering re-rolling as one?

Also tips for next weeks location...

Name: Klybo
Class: Dead World
Population: 0
Geography: Vast swathes of desert, rocky mountain ranges at the poles.
Mission Details
You are being sent to Klybo to extract the remains of an Adeptus Mechanicus expedition that appears to have uncovered a structure of interest on the planet. Intel on the situation is limited. Your inquisitor therefore thinks this is a side mission of limited difficulty that you can accomplish on the way back to Scintilla.

For more OOC fear see below...
Spoiler:
Black Stone, Green Light, Metal Skeletons...
Hope that everyone is there, for maximum potential ugliness.

Regards,

Peter.

P.S. Investing in some Armour Piercing rounds wouldn't be a bad idea.

Greetings,

Ok, another session without deaths, though only because of the nature of the enemy. Would rather take you alive for their own purposes.

Next week the 30th of March there will be no session due to my attendance at the Awards Ceremony thing, so the next session of my game will be the 6th of April.

Tips for next session...

Stealth and Skydiving.

Peter.

Greetings,

On closer inspection of the scenario details, skydiving is one of the options. There are others.

Just not as awesome.

You might arrive late to a party if you take a slower route.

Party where the main food group is bullets... Yes I went there.

Greetings,

Easter Holidays seem to have put quite a dent in my Role-playing time.

If anyone is capable of attending on Friday for my Session, 5pm until 9pm then please let me know. I myself should be able to show up.

If nobody responds I guess we shall regroup the following week 13/04/2012

Regards,

Peter.

I was also planning on attending. Would it be possible to push it forward by an hour or so, as it makes getting a bus home easier.

I think Lynne is planning to have a character-gen session for her upcoming Deathwatch game in Julie's slot, starting around 1:00pm, just thought i'd bring that to people's attention.

Greetings,

Ok. I think we have enough people to make a go of it this week.

If Lynne is staying for my game then that should make at least 3 people.

I have yet to hear from Stuart but 3 should suffice for what I have planned. The rest will have to join you later on. Very Happy

I will be there for Lynne's character gen session at 1pm. If I don't meet people before hand in university.

The Training Room should be free for us to use tomorrow as most staff are away during the holidays, if I understand correctly.

See you all tomorrow.

Peter.

Re: Apostasys Gambit

Post by Niko on 2012-04-07, 06:31

Awesome things I did that deserve XP.
1. Only the SoB and I damaged the demon in the random encounter.
2. Didn't immediately sit down in the weird chairs - caution is a virtue.
3. Did awesome jumps in/out of the weird chairs.
4. Took part in the stealth mission.
5. Narrowly avoided getting toasted by the shuttle.
6. Didn't open the box of hairy alligators.
7. Was not the only one to get spotted while exiting the compound.
8. Bravely volunteered for the first attack wave.
9. Killed (at least) 2 of the guardsmen operating the AA turret.
10. Saved Stuart's life during that encounter.
11. Shrugged off 2 salvos of gunfire from the squad of guardsmen
12. Disabled 50% of the squad, causing the rest to retreat.

Fuck dice rolls, I DESERVE more XP and you know it. If this injustice continues then i'll have to retire this character an play one of the ridiculously overpowered ones that prosper so much under these blatantly biased systems.

Re: Apostasys Gambit

Post by Whisper on 2012-04-07, 09:17

Greetings,

Current XP Rankings
Mark - 2250
Lynne - 2000
Stuart - 1800
Keith - 1800
Nicholas - 1700
Liam - 1400
Michael -1000

This should mean everyone is at Rank 3. Except Michael. As usual all XP amounts include the starting 400.

Next week there should be ample opportunity for extra XP. Though the scale of the forces levelled against you is going to be slightly higher.

Clearly this week was far too easy on you guys. We must do away with your bravado.

Enemy Assessment
A few of the brighter sparks amongst the enemy forces seem to think they might need AT scale weapons to deal with you guys. Nick and Lynne specifically.

Some of the more Veteran units of the household guard have been mobilized against the incursion, expect harder fights.

Next Week
You have decision to make.

  • Captain Scipio and the forces he dropped in with are outmatched on the far side of the compound.
  • The Nobles forces appear to be regrouping within the Manse.
  • In order for the Third Wave to join the offensive the second armoured vehicle must be neutralised.
Your decision here is of the utmost importance.

I am constructing a suitable map of the compound to give a form of perspective to the engagement. Do not expect beauty however.

Regards,

Peter.

First of all, why on earth did you use my full name in the XP rankings?
Secondly, according to my sheet I'm currently at 1,750. You'd best not be trying to swindle me out of more XP...

On a vaguely related note, after this mission I would like to re-roll my character. As entertaining as the police brutality is, it's going to wear thin very fast. I would still like to play an Arbitrator though, as I've not really had a chance to play as one properly - just a poorly thought-out and inefficient mêlée character.

Greetings,

Verywell, you may have 1750. 50 below Stuart and Keith.

After the mission you may re-roll your character, though you will need to reacquire your equipment from the starting equipment you are given.

When you re-roll your character please let me know if you are sticking with the same starting template, Origin, Homeworld etc. or whether you are changing.

Peter.

I can't remember which background package / origin / much of the creation process for this character.

Also, do you want to supervise character creation, or am I trusted to do so alone? If the latter is the case, then please remind me what rules you are using for re-rolls (if any). I would rather create my successor before the next session, so I can swap out as soon as the mission is finished. Maybe even offer a heroic sacrifice to save my comrades. Or maybe I'll just fall off the spire in a moment of comical stupidity.

Re: Apostasys Gambit

Post by Whisper on 2012-04-22, 12:00

Greetings,

First to clarify a point of confusion, Experience totals for everyone as of this date are as follows. (Highest to Lowest)

Mark - 2100 (R4) 2500
Lynne - 1800 (R3) 2200
Keith - 1700 (R3) 2100
Stuart - 1600 (R3) 2000
Nicholas - 1500 (R3) 1900
Liam - 1500 (R3) 1900
Michael - 600 (R2) 1000

The amount in RED is your XP gained, the amount in BLUE is the total XP including starting.

Next week we will be entering the buildings and underground complexes of the spire. Be prepared for anything.

Regards,

Peter.

We will resume on the 4th of May if there are no objections.

Greetings,

Ok. As far as I understand it there are 4 weeks left until I am leaving for the summer.

I will be in the Training Room at 5pm on Friday for the next four weeks. If people show up, my game will run.

Next Year
Depending on whether I make a return for my honours year, or not, I would quite like to run a game. The options we have for next year are as follows.

Dark Heresy (Continue the Campaign, Daemons)
Dark Heresy:Rogue Trader (Fresh Start, More toys, Open World, Daemons)

Why daemons? Because Warp.

Regards,

Peter.

Greetings,

We will discuss the matter in further detail during one of the Friday game sessions.

If people decide that change is good and we do go for Rogue Trader, I will need to concoct some suitably fancy ending to the current campaign. I'm currently thinking about alien incursions and mind melting powers, nothing to worry about...

Greetings,

I was intending to use the slot, 4pm to 8pm this Friday on account of an exam ending at 1pm. I doubt the early slot 2pm to 6pm is entirely feasible for a game to run as 'some' people may want to use the time immediately after the exam to unwind.

If I hear anything to change my timing this Friday I will endeavour to post it here hopefully no later than the night before.

To confirm the game is current set to run from 4pm to 8pm on Friday.

Regards,

Peter.

P.S. Apologies if anyone has been misinformed.

Greetings,

To confirm, I am planning to run my game next Friday at 1200 (Noon) until 1600. To compensate for the AGM which is happening at 1830.

As far as current events go, you are about to encounter Tyrranids for the first time in open combat. I wish you good luck.

EXP Standings (Highest to Lowest)

Mark 2900 | 2500
Lynne 2900 | 2500
Keith 2600 | 2200
Stuart 2500 | 2100
N-Train 2500 | 2100
L-I-AM 2500 | 2100

Including Starting
Excluding Starting

Equipment Granted

Hexagramatic Wards
Grants +20 bonus to Resist direct psychic attack or manipulation. Double armour points versus psychic force attacks. Keep value versus Warp Weapons.

Rosarius
Roll 2D10, reduce damage from attack by the total of the two dice. If you roll "11", the attack hits in full force. If you roll "00" damage is reduced by 20 but the device cannot be used again for 1D10 rounds. Additionally if you roll "00", roll a 1D10. If the 1D10 rolls a "9" the generator has failed and it may not be used again until repaired. If the device blocks more than 12 points of damage a blast of light is released equivalent to a Photon Flash Grenade.

Regards,

Peter "P-Dawgg" Thornley
